MYSORE: Two scientists of international repute representing the Bose Institute, Kolkata, and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, have been selected for the Prof. Y.T. Thathachari Award for Science-2005, instituted by the Bhramara Trust. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, a memento and a citation. According to a release from managing trustee of the tust Madhuri Thathachari, Pinakpani Chakrabarti of Bose Institute and A.K. Arora of IGCAR have been selected for his work in structural chemistry and biochemistry. Prof. Arora, a physicist, has received international acclaim for his work on pressure-induced amorphization, and decomposition, and structural stability of materials at high pressure. Ms. Madhuri has said the award will be presented in Mysore, and the date and venue of the function would be announced.
