BANGALORE: Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu on Friday said the war on terror would never end as long as the disparities among people remained. "The world is divided between the rich and the poor and between the powerful and the powerless," Archbishop Tutu said while giving his "homily" address at the Advent Prayer Service on the eve of the Christmas celebrations organised at "Soukya," off Whitefield near Bangalore on Friday. People suffering because of apartheid in South Africa got support from the international community, particularly from the people of India, Archbishop Tutu recalled. . The fight against apartheid guided by Nelson Mandela freed thousands of South Africans from the evil. Archbishop Tutu reminded the audience of the "danger" of giving a microphone to a preacher. Recalling the tale of a boy who went with his mother to church, he said the preacher delivered his sermon for hours. The worried boy looking at the burning red light behind the preacher asked his mother, "Mom, when will the red light turn into green, so that we can go home?" The former Indian High Commissioner to South Africa, L.C. Jain, and his wife Devaki Jain, were present.
