KURNOOL: The CPI(ML) Janashakti has asked the Government to pay compensation to the farmers who lost lands under Somasila project without further delay. In a statement released by Nallamala Forest Division Committee secretary Ramu, the party highlighted the problem of bamboo cutters in Atmakur area, alleged police harassment of villagers in Kalasapadu mandal of Cuddapah district and land grabbing in Chinna Chowk area of Cuddapah town. The statement said the bamboo contractors who promised a rate of Rs.140 were paying Rs.120 now. The party said such trend of exploitation would be opposed. Also, the party named two persons in Indireswaram and Maddur in Atmakur area `police informants' and asked them to mend their ways.
Charge against police
The secretary said the police were harassing public in rural areas of Cuddapah district for both offering food to underground cadre or for denying food to police. The party asked the land grabbers in Cuddapah town on survey numbers 919/1, 937 and 938 to vacate the land.
