ANANTAPUR: Julakanti Srinivasa Reddy, prime accused in the murder of Penugonda MLA Paritala Ravindra, was remanded to judicial custody by the First Additional District Court till December 23 here on Friday. He was produced before Additional Judge A. Jayaraj in connection with the murder of Ravindra and Kanaganapalli MPP Tagarakunta Prabhakar amid tight security. Policemen were deployed in strength on the court premises as well as the town as the prime accused in the most sensational murder was being brought the court and Anantapur town first time. The Judge dismissed the plea of the jail Authorities who petitioned against lodging him in the district jail citing security concerns. However, the court placed restrictions on Srinivasa Reddy barring him from meeting people or prisoners without the permission of the court. He would be housed in separate barracks in the prison.
Plea to Judge
Srinivasa Reddy requested the Judge that he needed rest for a week to fully get his eye and palm healed. The Judge ordered medical examination for the accused within the prison itself and deferred the decision on the plea of the CBI for its remand for a week. C. Adisesha Reddy will defend Reddy during the trial.
Custody for Suri
Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri and four others were also produced before the court in connection with a conspiracy case to blast the house of Paritala Ravindra. They were remanded in custody till December 21. Banners appeared across the street in the Santhosh Road area welcoming Julakanti Srinivasa Reddy to the town. He was described as " Kaliyuga Bhimaseenudu'' who killed "demons.' The police were quick in their reaction in removing the controversial banners.
