Staff Reporter

Reviews arrangements at a high-level meeting

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has issued directions that all arrangements in connection with the Sammakka, Saralamma Jathra to be held in Medaram village, Tadvai mandal of Warangal district from February 15 to 18 should be completed well in advance.

Reviewing the present status of arrangements with Ministers Redya Naik and Ponnala Laxmaiah and senior officials here on Friday, Dr. Reddy said not a single pilgrim should be put to inconvenience for want of facilities from the government side.

All shortfalls experienced during the previous versions of the tribal festival, which is held once in two years, should be rectified this time, he said. More than 70 lakh people, mostly tribals including those from neighbouring States are expected to participate in the jathra.
