Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A `matka' organiser, who allegedly killed his wife and another couple after making them unconscious by offering them sweets laced with sedatives, was caught by the Shahalibanda police during a routine inspection on Friday.

The accused, Khaja Moinuddin, confessed to killing his paralytic wife Rafia at Dundigal and a couple - Zameer and his wife Rehana - who were accomplices in the murder, at Dharmabad in Maharashtra a few months ago, South Zone DCP Sandeep Shandilya told a press conference here. The three murder cases remained undetected till Moinuddin was caught on Thursday.

Chance detection

Moinuddin was taking his associates, Maratha Maruthi and Safia, to Pahadisharif in an autorickshaw when a police party intercepted them at Nagulchinta crossroads on Thursday evening. A resident of New Mallepally, 45-year-old Moinuddin had four wives and was allegedly involved in many offences.

"In fact Moinuddin plotted to kill Safia, who helped him carry out the three murders, in the same style and got caught while taking her to Pahadisharif on the pretext of some work," the DCP explained.
