HYDERABAD: The city is all set to witness its second dog show. One of the country's oldest clubs, the Andhra Pradesh Kennel Club, has announced its 67th and 68th All Breeds Championship dog shows on December 11 at the Methodist Boys High School grounds near Taj Mahal hotel in Abids. The show, which follows the November 20 event organised by the Hyderabad Canine Club, is expected to have over 500 dogs from across the country strutting their stuff apart from a variety of pets that will be kept on display and for sale by the Federal Pets and Livestock Society at the same venue from 9 a.m.
Awards
AP Kennel Club honorary secretary R.K. Bakshi said a special entry at Sunday's event would be a Siberian Husky, a working group dog bred in the Alaska region. "There will be 35 breeds participating in the show, including Great Danes, tall Afghan Hounds, Saluki the hunting dog from Arabia, Pomeranians, Daschunds, Rottweillers, Lhasa Apsos, German Shepherds, Dobermans, Boxers and Dalmatians among others," he said. Apart from the Challenge Certificate to the best specimen of a specific breed, `Best of Breed', `Best of Opposite Sex', `Best of Show' and `Best Puppy in Show' awards would be presented.
