KOCHI: The Health Squad of Kochi Corporation on Friday swooped down on unauthorised centres of meat sale and seized and destroyed 150 kg of beef not fit for consumption. The action was taken on a number of complaints received from various quarters. Unauthorised butchering and meat sale was reported from Vyttila, Palarivattom and Pachalam areas. Many meat sale shops were found to be violating the licence norms. Strict action will be taken against those violating norms by taking away licences of these shops, according a news release by C.G. Elizabeth, Corporation Health Officer. The Health Officer said that the meat should be bought only from licenced stalls.
