Thiruvananthapuram: Five persons were injured when Students Federation of India (SFI) and Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) activists clashed at the University College on Friday. The police said SFI students had attacked the SIO activists when they were distributing pamphlets against ragging inside the College campus around 10.30 a.m. Among those injured was also a worker of the Campus Front of the National Development Front. The injured were identified as Afsal, Hakim, Niyaz, Anwar and Murshid. The police deployed in strength in front of the college. The principal suspended classes following the violence. Later in the evening, a post-graduate student of the University College was stabbed by unidentified persons at Ayurveda college. The police identified the injured person as Harikumar (21) of Neyyatinkara. The police view the incident as a "tit-for-tat" attack carried out by NDF activists. Harikumar sustained three deep stab wounds on his body.
