NEW DELHI: Six persons, all residents of Jammu and Kashmir, have been arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly possessing drugs like cocaine and ecstasy. The accused were involved in peddling drugs in the elite circuit. Acting on a tip-off, the Narcotics Branch had laid a trap near Malviya Nagar main market on December 7. Around 8-30 p.m., three suspects appeared on the scene in a Ford Ikon car to carry out a drug deal. However, the police team arrested all the three occupants of the car. Those arrested were identified as Tahir Lone alias "Beach", Umar Rahim and Shafat Ahmed Khan. The police recovered 15 gm of cocaine from Tahir, along with Rs. 4,000 in cash. The other two suspects were carrying 5 and 7 gm of cocaine. At the instance of the accused, the police arrested their associate, Imtiaz Ahmed Peer alias Raja, and Ezas Ahmed Jala, at Jangpura in the early hours of December 8. The police recovered 105 gm of cocaine, 13 tablets ecstasy and 1 kg of charas from the accused. During interrogation, Tahir allegedly told the police that he entered into the drug trade four years ago. Imtiaz, who had been in the trade for the past two decades, had lured Tahir after he met him through a common friend.
After working for a short period for Imtiaz, Tahir developed his own client base.
Four arrested
Four Bangladeshi nationals allegedly involved in burglary cases were arrested at Mayur Vihar in East Delhi on Thursday. A firearm and live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
