NEW DELHI: With the objective of implementing the recently floated Local Area Plan (LAP) scheme of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi -- an exercise in rationalising civic services taking into account the needs and dreams of the citizen -- the Vasant Vihar Residents' Welfare Association is organising its first interactive session with various sections of society on Saturday. The pilot project spread over 310 hectares dovetails directly into the larger objective of the Prime Minister's Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission of regenerating cities and towns. One of the foremost objectives of the LAP is to hear the voice of all stakeholders of the area and to initiate a debate on issues concerning the quality of life in their areas. The Vasant Vihar LAP study, after going through a bid process, has been awarded to EFNRA, an organisation of town planners, architects, and environmental planners.
