Polls: fiat to parties, candidates

Bangalore: Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore Urban, M.A. Sadiq on Friday advised political parties and their candidates in the zilla and taluk panchayat elections not to organise any meeting or take out processions without the permission of the jurisdictional police.

Addressing the district police officers on the security arrangements made for the elections, Mr. Sadiq said that the political parties and candidates should take approval for using public address systems or mikes. The use of mikes, he said, should be restricted between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.Mr. Sadiq told Additional Superintendent of Police Krishnappa, the returning officers and the road transport officers to help in the smooth conduct of elections and in maintaining law and order.
