Storm spares Nellore

Nellore: With the severe cyclonic storm crossing the coast at Vedaranyam in Tamil Nadu, the authorities at Nellore heaved a sigh of relief, on Saturday.

The district was hit by three cyclones in less than a month, causing widespread damage in several areas, particularly in Gudur division.

In view of the cyclone crossing the coast, the authorities here received the `dewarning' signal, but with a possible indication of incessant rain and gale at a speed of 40 to 50 km.
