Railways to run more special trains to Chennai

Thiruvananthapuram: The Railways will run special trains along the Chennai Central-Kollam-Chennai Central and Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Central stretches between December 12 and January 14 to clear the rush of passengers.

The 619 Chennai Central-Kollam Special will leave Chennai Central at 4 p.m. on December 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 21 to arrive at Kollam at 6 a.m. the next day. The 620 Kollam-Chennai Central Special will leave Kollam at 1 p.m. on December 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 22 to arrive at Chennai Central at 8 a.m. the next day.

According to the Railways, the 619 and 620 Special trains would halt at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chengannur and Kayamkulam railway stations. The 620 Special will also halt at Perambur. The trains will have an AC 3-Tier, 10 Second Class Sitting (Reserved), four General Second Class and two Luggage-cum-Brake van coaches. The 657 Chennai Central-Kollam Special will leave Chennai Central at 5 p.m. on December 17 to arrive at Kollam at 7.30 a.m. the next day. In the return direction, the 658 Kollam-Chennai Central will leave Kollam at 6.45 p.m. on December 18 to arrive Chennai Central at 10.15 a.m. the next day.

The trains will halt at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chengannur and Kayamkulam. The 658 will halt at Perambur also. The 657 and 658 will have an AC 3-Tier, 10 Second Class Sitting (Reserved), four General Second Class and two Luggage-cum-Brake van coaches.

The 623 Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Special will leave Chennai Central at 5 p.m. on December 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 30, January 2, 6, 9 and 13 to arrive at Thiruvananthapuram at 9.45 a.m. the next day. The 624 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Central Special will leave Thiruvananthapuram at 5.30 p.m. on December 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31, January 3, 7, 10 and 14 to arrive at Chennai Central at 10.15 a.m. the next day. The 623 and 624 Specials would stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chengannur, Kayamkulam and Kollam. The advance reservation for all the special trains will commence on December 11.
