Idols stolen

TIRUCHI: Unknown persons stole two panchaloha idols kept in a private temple at Kilikoodu recently. The complaint was lodged to the Samayapuram police on Friday. Sources said the culprits stole the idols of `amman' and `karuppusamy', which were kept in the rear side of the mandapam.

Flood relief

SP takes charge

Ashok Kumar Das took charge as the Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi (Rural), on Saturday. Previously, he was the SP, Thanjavur district. He succeeds N.K. Senthamaraikannan, who has been posted as SP of Thanjavur district.

A 1993-batch IPS officer, Ashok Kumar Das, hailing from Orissa, has served as SP of Ramanathapuram and Erode districts besides serving in the Special Task Force.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 120.2 feet on Saturday. The inflow was 9,579 cusecs and the outflow 9,026 cusecs.
