MAHABUBNAGAR: In a ghastly road accident seven persons of a marriage party were killed and nine others, including the bridegroom, injured when the jeep in which they were travelling collided head-on with a lorry, near Ranipet village between Midjil and Jadcharla towns, 32 Km from here, on Friday morning. The injured persons were rushed to SVS hospital, Mahabubnagar. According to information reaching the district headquarters, Jangaiah's family left for Jadcharla town, where the marriage was to be performed, early in the morning in a jeep with 17 persons on board. While crossing a culvert near Ranipet, the jeep was hit by a lorry, resulting in the instantaneous death of six persons. Another person died in hospital. The victims have been identified as Lingamma(45), Manemma(38), Ramulamma(36), Alivelu(35), Lingaiah(35), Haritha(6) and jeep driver Abdul(40).
Bus-van collision
Tirupati Special Correspondent writes: Five persons were killed and 23 others injured in a head-on collision between and APSRTC bus and a milk van in Chittoor district. All the victims were passengers travelling in the bus bound for Ponneri in Tamil Nadu. Twenty persons were admitted to Ruia Hospital here.
