Five killed as lorry rams into autorickshaw

HYDERABAD: A lorry rammed into an autorickshaw resulting in the death of five persons and injuries to two others near Bandlaguda on on Sunday.

The three-wheeler, crammed with six passengers, in addition to the driver, was proceeding from Chandrayangutta to Katedan around 1.30 p.m. while the lorry laden with cement bags was following it. "We are told that one wheel of the autorickshaw came off as the driver slammed the brakes when a boy suddenly ran across the road," Rajendranagar SI Chandrashekhar said. As the driver struggled to control the vehicle, the lorry rammed into the autorickshaw. Mohd. Sharfuddin, 22, of Bahadurpura, Jaffar, 23, Hasan Nagar, Tapan Rai, 28, Durganagar, and an unidentified man and the driver Mohd. Nayeem, 25, of Hashamabad died on the spot.
