`Lakshadeepam' at Sree Thonnal Devi Temple

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Lakshadeepam festival at Sree Thonnal Devi Temple, Pallippuram, will be held on Thrikkarthika day on Tuesday evening, according to a press release here.

The ritual is performed to promote world peace and the prosperity of families.

Nearly 3,000 CRPF jawans will join devotees in lighting a lakh of oil lamps within minutes as part of the ritual. Thousands of women devotees will offer `pongala' to the deity from 8.30 a.m. that day.
