New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of a batch of appeals questioning a Calcutta High Court order relating to the appointment of observers for conducting the elections to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. A Bench of Justice S.B. Sinha and Justice P.K. Balsubramanyan while disposing of the appeals declined to entertain applications challenging certain decisions of the court-appointed Observer, T.S. Krishnamurthy, who had submitted his report last week. The apex court, while appointing him Observer on October 25 with the consent of the contesting parties, had said that he should file within a week a report as to the conduct of the elections, along with brief reasons for his rulings on voting rights and on eligibility/disqualification, if any. The polls were completed on November 29 and accordingly he filed his report. The court had appointed him while hearing a batch of special leave petitions filed by the Rajasthan and Bihar Cricket Associations and the Nethaji Cricket Club questioning the Calcutta High Court order quashing the appointment of the former Chief Justices, K.N. Singh and M.M. Poonchi, as Special Observers for the BCCI polls. The Bench made it clear that it would not go into other issues and it would be open to the parties to move the appropriate forum to redress their grievances and disposed of all the appeals.
