`Feeble' trough in Bay

CHENNAI: Many places in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are likely to experience rain on Tuesday following the formation of a "feeble" trough of low pressure over southwest Bay.

Southern parts of the State continued to receive heavy rain on Sunday.

During the 24-hour period ending 8-30 a.m. Monday, Manimuthar and Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district received 17 cm each; Shencottah (Tirunelveli) 13 cm; Paramakudi (Ramanathapuram) 12 cm; Rajapalayam (Virudhunagar) 8 cm and Ilayankudi (Sivagangai) 7 cm. In the north, Kattumannarkoil (Cuddalore) registered 9 cm.
