Motorcyclists killed in accident at Thoraipakkam

They were run over by MTC bus

TAMBARAM: Two youths, aged 30, were fatally run over by a Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus after they fell off their two-wheeler they after hitting a maxi cab at Thoraipakkam on the Old Mamallapuram Road on Sunday night.

Police said the victims, realty agents Tirumalai and Alphonse, were on their way to Navalur and tried to overtake a van on its way to Kelambakkam. While they were overtaking the van, the motorcycle collided with it and skidded. They were thrown off the bike and were run over by an MTC bus. The two were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. Thoraipakkam police are investigating.

In another accident, three persons, including the driver of a car, sustained injuries on Sardar Patel Road on Sunday.

According to the police, the car, driven by Chowdhry of Madampakkam, near Tambaram, was heading towards Guindy from Adyar. Around 6.15 p.m., near Raj Bhavan, the car hit a concrete slab in the middle of the road, and in the impact struck a two-wheeler that was passing by.

The pillion rider of the two-wheeler, Murugesan (27), sustained head injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Adyar.

The two-wheeler rider, Chockalingam (23), sustained minor injuries. Police said Chowdhry also sustained injuries.
