Gita as guidance manual

K. Venkiteswaran

KOCHI: Bhagvad Gita, a spiritual treatise, is universally acclaimed as a guidance manual for life— not just for an aspect of life.

The Veliyanad-based Chinmaya International Foundation, centre for advanced Sanskrit research and Indology, has now brought out a book titled `Holy Gita — Ready Reference.'

The commentary of Swami Chinmayananda is known for its logical explanations, and the systematic and scientific method in which the topics have been dealt.

The book culls the essential aspects and important points of Swami Chinmayananda's commentary and presents them in a question and answer form.

One will find the terms, definitions, thoughts, concepts and select passages from the commentary. The book also devotes a portion to important verses from the Gita.

Another aspect of the book is the alphabetical index to all the paadas of the Bhagvad Gita, which is not available elsewhere.

The highlight of the book is the Bhagvad Gita Ashtottarashatanamavali composed by Swami Tejomayananda, the head of the Chinmaya Mission Worldwide.
