Charting a new course

The popular notion about the professional course of Chartered Accountancy is that it is a tough one. It is not so, vow the CA professionals. The low percentage of pass is due to the lack of perseverance, they say.

Somehow, there is low awareness on the course. Only a few are attracted to the profession in comparison to engineering and medicine streams though the fee for the CA course is much low.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is trying to introduce a common proficiency test similar to the all India test for entry into engineering, medicine and management institutes.

The announcement should be gratifying to aspiring students and parents in Kerala as most of the youngsters are being led into the engineering-medical streams at present. If the future generations are only interested in medicine and engineering, it would be a serious setback to the nation.
