District Keralolsavam begins today

Sports competitons from Thursday, arts festival from Saturday

KANNUR: All arrangements are under way for holding the district Keralolsavam from Wednesday onwards.

District panchayat president K.K. Narayanan said at a press conference here on Tuesday that M.V. Govindan, MLA, would inaugurate the festival being organised in association with the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board. Athletics and sports competitions will be held at the KAP Ground at Mangattuparamba from December 15, while arts festival will be held at K.K.N. Pariyaram Smaraka Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Pariyaram, on December 17 and 18.

First prize winners at the block and municipal-level competitions will participate in the arts festival, he said.

First and second prize winners in the district competition will be awarded cash prizes and certificates.

The first prize winners are eligible to participate in the State Keralolsavam to be held in Kottayam from December 27.

The valedictory session will be inaugurated by M. Prakashan, MLA, on December 18.
