Charge sheet filed by CBI in stamp paper case

The prosecution has cited 190 persons as witnesses

CHENNAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation, probing the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, filed charge sheet against 11 accused persons, including the suspended Tamil Nadu Deputy Inspector-General of Police, A.P. Mohamed Ali.

The charge sheet, running to 3,000 pages, was brought in two boxes and filed in the court of S. Dakshnamoorthy, II Special Judge for CBI Cases, here, on Tuesday.

The prosecution has cited 190 persons as witnesses and marked 340 documents as evidence.

The accused have been charged under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 120(b) (criminal conspiracy), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 253 (possession of altered coin), and 255 (counterfeiting of government stamp), besides Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which is applicable to Mr. Mohamed Ali.
