Female foeticide raised in Rajya Sabha

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda (Congress) on Monday urged the government to take note of the issue of female foeticide and adopt a multiple strategy.

Making a special mention on female foeticide and growing gender imbalance in the country, he said the two-child norm adopted by some States was partly to blame for the dwindling number of girls. "There should be strict provision of penalty for female foeticide and creation of social awareness about it.''
