VIZIANAGARAM: Artistes participating in `kala jatas' organised by Government departments for creating awareness among rural people on welfare schemes are miffed at being told to arrange mike sets and transport on their own. The district administration has selected 64 teams to educate people on Rajiv Gruha Kalpa, individual sanitary latrines, drinking water, micro irrigation, Indira Prabha, etc. in model villages through burrakatha, harikatha and playlets in villages. They were imparted training for three days at Mahila pranganam and TTDC. This time, they were paid Rs. 80 only as against Rs.250 in the past in addition to boarding and lodging facility, said Gadde Prasada Rao, an artiste.
No schedule
He said that village-wise schedule for the programme had also not been released though they were told to launch the campaign from December 15. District Public Relations Officer Mani Ram said that the Collector had decided on organising "kala jatas" and individual departments involved in the programme had not finalised the budgetary allocation and facilities to be extended to the artistes. A decision, however, would be taken in a day or two, he added.
