TRS disrupts House proceedings

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD : Proceedings in the Assembly were disrupted for over 20 minutes on Tuesday by Telangana Rashtra Samiti members who demanded a debate on the implementation of the G.O. No. 610, before letting a listed discussion on Backward Classes' welfare to continue.

As soon as Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy called for the discussion, TRS floor leader G. Vijayarama Rao demanded a debate on the G.O., which seeks repatriation of employees from other regions working in Telangana.

The Speaker said he would allot time to the TRS for a debate on the GO, but even as Mr. Rao continued to speak, party colleagues squatted on the steps leading to the podium.

They held placards and shouted slogans in support of the demand.

Ministers -- N. Raghuveera Reddy (agriculture) and D. Srinivas (rural development) appealed to TRS members to pay heed to the Speaker's words.

"I cannot allow the House to continue in this state of pandemonium.

Please resume your seats. I assure you that I will go through the schedule and make out time for the debate on your demand," Mr. Suresh Reddy repeated before adjourning the House.
