Govt. for separate High Court

Special Correspondent

Will bring resolution in the House: Surjewala

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday criticised the former Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, for allegedly withholding information about the rejection of the resolution for a separate High Court for Haryana by the then Union Law Minister, Arun Jaitely.

Talking to newsmen on the eve of the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, Mr.Surjewala, reiterated that the Hooda Government would bring a fresh resolution in the House on Wednesday seeking the creation of a separate High Court for the State even though a similar resolution had been passed earlier by the Chautala regime. He urged all political parties to support and pass the resolution in the interests of the State.

He lamented that ever since the formation of Haryana in 1966, it had never "got its due share of 40 per cent in the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court''.Also, the cases of Haryana did not get due preference even in hearing. The young lawyers too could not get a chance which they otherwise would have got in the separate High Court. At present, 11 vacancies of Judges were lying vacant in the High Court.

He said that after the passing of the resolution in the Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and the Government would plead the issue with the Central Government. The Union Law Minister, H.R.Bhardwaj, was already on record that the Centre would consider the issue of a separate High Court for Haryana when it was brought to its notice.

Mr.Surjewala said that there would be other important issues which would also be taken up for discussion in the House.
