A contest for women

BANGALORE'S WOMEN are perhaps more enterprising and independent than their counterparts in other southern cities.

Actually, they may only be carrying forward an ancient Indian legacy.

Vedic India treated women on par with men in every way.

ISKCON which aims to preserve and promote Vedic culture has a three-day cultural festival, all for women to show their artistic talents. The event Vatsalya, will have contests in Carnatic and Hindustani music, rangoli, panting, group singing, essay writing and cooking, all open only to women.

There will also be a costume designing contest, where they have to create the most innovative garments for the statues of Krishna and Radha. Vatsalya takes place from December 23 to 25.
