MANGALORE: Curtains will come down on the year-long celebrations to mark the 20th year of A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (ABSMIDS), the first professional college started by the Nitte Education Trust at Deralakatte near here, on Sunday. The institute had organised a series of events, academic, cultural and sports, to celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner. N. Vinaya Hedge, chairman of the trust, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the trust founded by K.S. Hegde, the former Judge of the Supreme Court and the former Speaker of Lok Sabha, started with the setting up a Kannada medium school at Nitte in Udupi district in 1981. .N. Sridhar Shetty, Dean, said some of the programmes conducted as part of 20th year celebrations include a regional dental students' conference. Mr. Hegde said Arun Jaitely, former Union Minister, will be the chief guest at the valedictory function. Anil Kohli, President, Dental Council of India, and K.S. Prabhakaran, Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS, will be the guests of honour. Mr. Hegde will preside over the function.
