Life holds no magic for them

The lives of those who perform street magic is far from rosy, as their popularity barely seems to help them eke out a living.

It was a sad picture about their life that emerged from an interaction between street magicians and mediapersons here on Friday.

The magicians from different parts of India were here to participate in `Mazma,' a national festival of street magic.

Shamshudeen, a street magician from Palakkad, who is known for the `green mango trick,' said no more did people crowd around the itinerant performers like they used to before. "Collection is low and there are times when I have to abandon shows on account of a low turnout," he said. The performers thanked the Magic Academy and the State Government for organising such a fete to promote their art.
