Rain plays spoilsport
Rain has been playing spoilsport in the city for the past one week. The much-awaited Air Show 2005 of the Indian Air Force had to be cancelled due to the continuous showers. The residents were hoping to witness the Surya Kirans, the IAF aerobatic team, perform over the Shangumughom beach. The jets were scheduled to land at the airport here on Saturday afternoon. However, the Southern Air Command (SAC) were hard pressed to give landing clearance owing to inclement weather. The Surya Kirans were asked to wait at the Yelhanka airbase in Bangalore till further instructions. The weather did not improve even on Sunday, forcing the SAC to cancel the show. The International Film Festival of Kerala was perhaps the only event that had not been dampened by the rain.
