`Power Dept. has failed completely'

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Noted theatre personality Roshan Seth on Tuesday accused the Power Department of the Delhi Government of failure to offer any relief to the power consumers of the Capital. "We have no confidence in Power Minister Haroon Yusuf and his administrative set-up, including the Principal Secretary (Power) S. Regunathan. They must admit they have failed comprehensively," he said.

Mr. Seth, who is also part of NGO People's Action, said: "It has been six months since the issue of fast running meters, inflated bills and high tariffs has been hanging fire. The Delhi Government has not been unable to provide any relief."

Mr. Seth has been in the forefront of the agitation against the indifferent attitude of the private power distribution companies and the Delhi Government and had come down harshly on the Government for its failure to handle the power crisis and address the concerns of the consumers.
