Vatal Paksha releases manifesto

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha has raised an issue which the Government itself had proposed in recent years laying down that only those who had latrines in their houses could contest elections to the panchayat raj bodies. The Government later went back on the proposal.

In its election manifesto for the zilla and taluk panchayat elections, the Vatal Paksha has promised to build latrines in the villages, particularly for women.

The manifesto was released on Tuesday by Anupama Vatal, daughter of the party President and MLA, Vatal Nagaraj.

The absence of latrines had made the life of rural women miserable, Mr. Nagaraj said.
