Two arrested, goods recovered

HUBLI: The Hubli Police on Wednesday arrested two men in connection with the burglary in an oil distributor's office two months ago.

The names of the arrested persons were given as Rajesh Hanumanthappa Matlur, a resident of Dharwad, and Yuvaraj Shivaji Attarvali, a resident of Hubli.

The police have recovered some stolen goods from the arrested. A case has been registered at the Old Hubli Police Station.

Suitcase returned

An autorickshaw has returned a suitcase which a passenger had left in his vehicle to its owner. A.V. Kusugal, an executive engineer from Bagalkot who had come to Hubli on Tuesday, had left his suitcase in the autorickshaw he had hired.

On finding the suitcase in the vehicle, the driver, Nagaraj Kabade, with the help of David Goni, president of the Autorickshaw Drivers Association, found the address of the passenger and returned the suitcase to him.

Narayan Nadamani, Police Commissioner, has given a letter of commendation to the autorickshaw driver.

Four held, cash recovered

The Dharwad Police have arrested four men and recovered Rs. 4,000 in cash from them.

The police gave the names of the arrested as Mohammad Rafiq Bashasab Bellary, Jamalsab Babusab Gadag, Mohammad Rafiq Gousmodin Mujavar and Hasimali Usmansab Haveripet, all residents of Dharwad.

The police said the arrested had attacked Madivalappa Somalingappa Belawadi of Savadatti when he was about to board an autorickshaw in Dharwad on Sunday. They took him in the autorickshaw to a deserted place near Hosayallapur and after tying his hands and legs, took away the money from him, they said.

The four have been remanded them to judicial custody.
