RAICHUR: The employees' union of Life Insurance Corporation of India, Raichur division, has organised a four-day conference of the South Central Zone Insurance Employees' Federation from Saturday here at Rangamandir. J. Suresh, convenor of reception committee, said N.M. Sundaram, president of All-India Insurance Employees' Association, will inaugurate the conference at 4.30 p.m. K. Venugopal, general secretary of the association, M. Nagappa, freedom fighter and senior advocate, and V. Ramesh, general secretary of the federation, will speak at the inaugural function. He said over 1,000 delegates and observers from the State and Andhra Pradesh will participate. A rally by employees of the insurance industry and other sectors will be taken out to create awareness about the importance of life insurance. Two separate jathas from Shimoga and Mahaboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh, will join the conference. A. Venkatesh Naik, Raichur MP and chairman of the reception committee, will actively participate to make the conference a success, he said. Mr. Suresh said the conference will focus on important issues concerning the public sector insurance industry and issues related to the vast sections of society in the socio-economic and political spheres owing to fall out of neo-liberal policies pursued by the Governments. It will also discuss the problems faced by the unorganised workforce and issues related to women in addition. Separate sessions on regional imbalances in Telengana and Hyderabad Karnataka will be held, he added.
