Final poll roll to be released on January 30

THENI: The final electoral roll for 2006 will be released on January 30, 2006, said the Collector, Rajesh Lakhoni.

In a release here on Wednesday, he said a special revision of electoral roll began in October 2005. Door-to-door verification and deletion and inclusion of names and change of addresses, if any, were done in the draft electoral roll.

Inclusion of persons aged 18 years as on 1.1.2005 was completed. The draft electoral roll would be displayed in all taluk offices, panchayats, Collectorate and post offices on December 26.

Meanwhile, preliminary work to include persons, who would complete 18 years as on January 1, 2006, would begin from December 26 and conclude on January 9. A special camp to include these new voters would be held on January 7. The draft electoral roll after inclusion of new voters aged 18 years as on January 1, 2006, would be released on January 20, 2006, Mr. Lakhoni said.
