KOCHI: General secretary candidate in the December 21 SNDP Yogam election C.K. Vidyasagar says the poll will witness a "tsunami" of anger and resentment against the current leadership headed by Vellappalli Natesan. He told The Hindu that the tsunami had been building up against the "corruption and nepotism" of Mr. Natesan for a long time. This time, it would break out as the SNDP members could no longer hold their anger and also because the High Court-appointed advocate-commissioner would facilitate a transparent and fraud-free election. He said the anger of the ordinary Yogam members and the majority of unions had not been expressed all these years because of their fear of the wrath of the "dictatorial Yogam rulers". He said Mr. Natesan had packed all the key positions of the Yogam and the S.N. Trust with his relatives and yes-men. Mr. Natesan was now the general secretary of both the Trust and the Yogam. His relative, Kamalasanan, who was currently the chairman of the Trust, was now being fielded as the president of the Yogam too. However, he hoped that if the High Court instructions were followed in letter and spirit the upcoming election would be the cleanest in the recent memory. Mr. Vidyasagar, who leads the panel of candidates against Vellappalli Natesan's panel, noted that the High Court had laid down clear guidelines for a clean and transparent election. Mr. Vidyasagar, who was elected president of the Yogam in the last election but was later "removed" following a feud in the leadership, alleged that the elections had been "rigged" in the past few terms.
