Conserve water

The article, `Water and India's Constitution' (Dec. 15), brings out vividly the neglect of the basic need to conserve water resources.

We must learn that sharing the existing sources — not simply searching for new ones — is crucial for ensuring future supplies. It is the responsibility of the people and the Government to "find a way to a civilised sharing of a resource that is vital for the survival of all life."
