Information Technology facilitates transfer of information through computers, networks and other electronic devices So in this scenario, an association for Information Technology comes as a boon especially if it is region - specific. Such an association was formed in March 2003 and was called ` The Vellore Association for Information Technology' or `VAIT'. This association was the brainchild of Mr. Kumaran of the then Blue Chip Information Technology now known as M/s. Balaji Computers. VAIT recognizes IT companies with proper office set up, involved in activities like sales, servicing, AMC or ASC, dealing in branded PCS or Systems Integration in the Vellore District. IT companies with a minimum business age of one year, along with the aforesaid criteria can become members of VAIT. VAIT started its official association activities from 2003 with 25 association members and elected office bearers. The Founder President of the Association was Mr. C.P. Praveen of Vasavi Computer Academy, Vellore. Now VAIT is 35 members strong and is being headed by Mr. C. Arumugam - Intech Computers, Vellore in the Capacity of a president. Many a time, the IT consumers of this region have felt that technology and competitive pricing were not available to them at their doorstep. To break this myth , the association conducted `The Great Vellore Bazaar 2003' on the 15th, 16th the 17th of August 2003 at Rangalaya Kalyana Mandapam, Vellore with the help of Sponsors like INTEL, AMD, HCL INFO SYSTEMS LTD - FRONT LINE DIVISION and SAMSUNG. . This show was an eye-opener for all IT companies and the Vellore IT market. To be in sync with the latest trends in the IT field, the Association is conducting `The Great Vellore Bazaar-2005' a sequel, on the 16th, 17th and the 18th of December 2005. M/s. Hewlett Packard India Ltd. is the Prime Sponsor and Intel India Ltd. is the Key Sponsor. The highlight of the show will be the PC YATRA, Wi-Fi zone (wire free connectivity) 64 BIT platform etc. Responsibility of VAIT to the Society VAIT educates the buyers / customers about the latest Technology. Products and Brands provide direct company support through local service providers. VAIT helps the society by donating money to CM Relief Fund and PM relief Funds in case of disasters. It also gives away re-brushed computers to orphanages and community service organizations.
