dated December 16, 1955: Soviet-Indian friendship

The Soviet Premier, Mr. Bulganin, and the Soviet Communist Party First Secretary ,Mr. Khrushchev, declared at a press conference in New Delhi on December 14, a couple of hours before their departure from India, that Soviet Russia "stood for peaceful cooperation and friendship with all countries including the US, Britain and France," and fears expressed in some quarters that Indo-Soviet friendship was harmful to the relations of India and the Soviet Union with other countries had no meaning at all. Stating that some people were trying to resort to cold war in connection with their sojourn in India, they declared that the Soviet people would not lose their head on that account. Mr. Bulganin said, "The ties of friendship which have been forged between the Soviet Union and India are indestructible and will endure for all time to come."
