Thanjavur: The Collector, M. Veera Shanmugha Moni, has appealed to farm labourers, small and marginal farmers from eighteen years of age to 65 years in the district to become members under Uzhavar Padukappu Thittam (Farmers protection scheme) introduced by the Government. In a press release, he said that the scheme was launched on August 15, 2005. For becoming member in this scheme, one should register his or her name with the VAO. For registration a fee of Rs.10 should be paid but Government would pay this amount on behalf of the members. The membership should be renewed once in five years.
