PONDICHERRY: Pattali Makkal Katchi parliamentary party leader M. Ramadoss has called upon Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to intervene and ensure that the demands of the ministerial staff of the Union Territory are settled amicably and without room for the staff to continue their strike any further. The ministerial staff are on en masse earned leave since December 12 to press for enhanced pay for clerical staff and parity in the wage structure of department assistants with the Centre. They also want amalgamation of posts of Superintendents of Grades I and II into one category. In a release on Thursday, Mr. Ramadoss said the Group D employees too were up in arms against the Government. Their demands should also be conceded, so that work was not affected. The Government was suffering loss of revenue because of the strike and relations between the staff and the Government had become strained.
