Opposition protests abrupt end to session

BHUBANESWAR: Opposition parties in Orissa staged a demonstration outside the Raj Bhavan here on Thursday to protest against the abrupt ending of the winter session of the Assembly.

In a memorandum submitted to Governor Rameshwar Thakur, a delegation, including Leader of the Opposition J.B. Patnaik, said the Chief Minister and the Speaker adjourned the House sine dine 11days ahead of schedule, throwing all rules and democratic norms to the winds.

The Opposition was not taken into confidence on the adjournment.
