Forum doubtful of 24-hour water supply proposal

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad MPs and MLAs Forum has expressed doubts about Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's proposal to provide 24 hours water supply to the twin cities by 2007 and urged him to make a realistic assessment of the possibility.

The Forum in the resolutions passed in its recent meeting on drinking water needs of the State Capital while thanking Dr. Reddy for the idea pointed out that the experts had serious apprehensions on the feasibility of the project, a press release said.

Forum convener M. Sashidhar Reddy in a communication to the Chief Minister, here on Thursday, urged him to finalise phase three of the Krishna water project for supply of 90 million gallons a day utilising the balance 5.5 TMC of the 16 TMC allocated for the city.

It sought setting up of a committee of expert engineers to look into all aspects of the Pothireddypadu project and keep the G.O. 170 in abeyance.
