BANGALORE: Two youths, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched a bag containing two mobile phones and Rs. 2,000 in cash from a woman in J.C. Nagar police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 9 p.m., Deepika Arora, an employee of a private firm on Mahatma Gandhi Road, got down from an autorickshaw in Jayamahal and was walking home on 1st Cross, 1st Main, Jayamahal, when the assailants snatched the bag from her. On a complaint by Ms. Arora, the J.C. Nagar police have registered a case.
Bomb threat
The police, along with the staff of the Bomb Detection Squad, conducted searches at a private electronics company in 2nd Stage, Peenya, on Thursday after the company manager received e-mail that bombs have been placed in the company office. According to the complaint lodged with the Peenya police by the company manager, Indrasri V. Sarkar, the e-mail said the bombs will explode on Friday and Saturday. The police, who did not find any explosives, said they will conduct similar searches on Friday and Saturday.
Man stabbed
Following a drunken brawl, a man allegedly stabbed his friend near a bar in Kalasipalya police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 10.30 p.m., Basha allegedly stabbed Javed in the thigh and abdomen with a beer bottle in front of a bar on K.R. Road. An injured Javed has been admitted to a hospital. The Kalasipalya police have registered a case.
Sustains burns
A man and his wife sustained burns in a fire accident at their house in Yeshwanthapur police station limits on Thursday. The police said that around 10.30 a.m., Vijaya's sari caught fire while she was boiling water at her house in Pampanagar in Mathikere. Vijaya's husband Manjunath rushed to her rescue and he too sustained burns on his hands. Vijaya (22) has been admitted in Victoria Hospital and her condition is critical, the police said.
Motorcycle catches fire
A police sub-inspector's motorcycle was damaged after it caught fire in High Grounds police station limits on Wednesday night. The official escaped unhurt, the police said. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in Chakravarthy Layout on Palace Grounds when the sub-inspector Prasad, attached to the Subramanyanagar police station, was riding the motorcycle.
