BANGALORE: The police have formed two special teams to trace Squadron Leader Roopesh Kumar, who has been at large ever since his wife Rashmi Kishore (28) was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the Indian Air Force (IAF) quarters in Yelahanka on December 7.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) P. Muniswamy told The Hindu that the police are on the lookout for Roopesh Kumar (35) and his mother. Rashmi's body was found hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom of the house.

Mr. Muniswamy said the police have registered a case of unnatural death and not a case of murder.

Independent investigation

He said that although Mr. Kumar is an IAF officer, the police will conduct the investigation independently and seek the help of the IAF.

Meanwhile, Rashmi's father Naresh Singh, her sister Rita and other relatives on Thursday met Commissioner of Police Ajai Kumar Singh and sought justice.

They alleged that Roopesh Kumar and his mother had murdered Rashmi. They urged the Commissioner to register a case of murder against the IAF officer and his mother.

A sobbing Mr. Singh (68) alleged that Mr. Kumar and his mother had been harassing Rashmi for dowry.

He said the Yelahanka police had refused to register a case of murder.

Mr. Ajai Kumar Singh said the police will have to follow certain procedures to obtain Roopesh Kumar as he is an IAF officer.

"I will ensure that you will get justice," the Commissioner told Rashmi's relatives.

A native of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Roopesh Kumar reportedly fell in love with Rahsmi while they were in New Delhi and married her a few years ago.
