TIRUPATI: Ways and means of providing more effectively the computational and communication network training to students, researchers and scientists in analysing the biological data and bibliographic references to publish literature in various biological fields has come under focus at the two-day national workshop on `Bioinformatics' which got underway in SV University here on Friday. The meet jointly sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, CSIR, ICMR and the Andhra Pradesh Council of Science and Technology also discussed the development of software for computationally intensive problems in biology. The use of analytical tools such as graphics and molecular modelling for the protein engineering transcriptomics, genome analysis and rational drug design were also discussed. Vice-Chancellor of S.V. University S. Jayarama Reddy described bioinformatics--a symbiotic product of biological sciences and computational techniques--as the emerging science today.
