Gurbaaz Mann has the last laugh

KATHMANDU: Gurbaaz Mann saved his best for the last day of the Surya Nepal Masters Golf tournament.

Gurbaaz had the scores of the top finishers ahead of him as well as the scores in the group behind him.

He had to end the 18th hole with a par to wrap up the title and that's exactly what he did.

Gurbaaz began with a solitary birdie on the 7th hole on his first nine holes. More importantly it was a bogey free round till then.

On the back nine, Gurbaaz began to hit the sweet spots. A birdie on the start of his return trip was followed up with an eagle on the next hole and yet another birdie on the third. A double bogey on the fourth hole was the only blemish for Gurbaaz as he wrapped his first ever professional title on the PGAI tour.

C. Muniyappa failed to retain his fine showing on the first two rounds and he slipped to joint fourth place with Shamim Khan. S.S.P. Chowrasia increased his tour prize money grabbing the joint second spot with Uttam Singh Mundy. The duo finished two strokes behind Gurbaaz Mann.

The tournament registered its second hole-in-one with Vivek Bhandari driving with his nine iron into the hole on the tenth. KC Uttam had the first hole-in-one on the opening day.

In the amateurs' section, Shivram Shreshta carded a one under 71 on the final day to bag the title. Raj Pradhan took the second place.
